Brian, from Houston, called me back in June about his surprise proposal he had planned in New Orleans. However, he suspected Kara was on to him so he switched things up. We booked an engagement session instead and he totally surprised her by doing it at a family 4th of July picnic. Classic!

The cool part was when he decided to let Kara in on to the other surprise she had here in New Orleans. Me. So we were able to chat in advance about what she would like and all the other details. Both were excited to get here but were on a very short time-line as they were heading to a wedding in Florida. We ended up rescheduling for the next morning so they wouldn't feel rushed driving.

We didn't have to walk too far before we found some cool backdrops and local flavor. He had joked that Kara can talk to anyone so he was hoping to capture her in action. Which we did indeed find because its not like local flavor isn't everywhere right?!

I think what makes their day and time in front of the camera so special is the casual and relaxed vibe we shared. I call it the New Orleans Experience. Each time is different. You might experience any or all of these. A little Jazz. A little booze. Some dancing in the street. A beignet and a toast with a local brew. Congratulations heard from all directions as we sweep through the narrow streets framed by wrought-iron wrapped balconies. Its a celebration like no other.

Oops, the squirrel ran by! Back to Kara and Brian. We worked our way from portraits in the street to a quick and quiet few in the Carousel Bar of the Hotel Monteleone. Finally I couldn't resist some shots in front of the Marilyn Monroe window art. A fitting conclusion to a fun and real engagement session deep in the French Quarter of New Orleans, Louisiana. An experience you cannot resist.
