Hiring wedding vendors is quite the undertaking isn't it? If you are planning a destination wedding it's even tougher. How do you find the 'right' ones? Magazines and a plethora of online blogs profess their recommendations are the best. But you know what is really the best source? You. Your fiance. Not your friends. Not your family. Not the latest trend. Just you two. Do what works for you. If you follow who you are while being truthful, that will guide you. Connecting with your vendor in a way that makes you feel safe is probably my best advice. Of course you found them online or through another vendor's page, maybe even a referral from a friend. So there is a very vital piece of the puzzle that must be present for you to be able to choose the best vendors. Choose the ones that click with who you two are and your vision. Jazz music is the thing here in New Orleans. But that doesn't mean you can't have a DJ or live band playing Depeche Mode. Don't like the bouquet toss. Then don't do it.
The bottom line? You guys have to be honest with each and yourselves. Decide what kind of wedding you want and do it. Call those vendors that fit your needs, not the other way around. Because if you can trust your vendors then the first thing you've completed as a married couple is working together planning an event whether big or just the two of you eloping and let go of control to someone else. Best advice I can give is learn to surround yourselves with those you trust and love, warts and all, because they are the ones who will have your back and see your vision.
