Tanya, Joachim and I met two years ago when 'Joe' called to book me for his surprise proposal during Essence-fest. After their filming by Essence magazine we hit the streets for some fun portraits and candids. Last year Joe and Tanya called to let me know they decided to have their wedding in New Orleans all contained within the French Quarter. But they wanted to spread it out over a couple of days. Their friends and family are so full of life and love. And energy.

We had decided early on in the planning phase to buffer some time in between the ceremony and reception since there would be a location change.

Purple and white were the theme colors with the reception being white dress.

They started the night before at Jax Brewery Bistro in JAX Brewery across from Jackson Square with a casual Welcome Party. Having the inside upper level bar and outside huge balcony available made the evening relaxed, just perfect. Most of the photographs were table-shots so I haven't included them here. There is a lot more room inside too.

The next day we started with family formal group shots in the lobby of the Omni Royal Hotel. The morning light was perfect.

No formal posey family portrait is complete without the crazy candids in between.

The ceremony started at 12:15pm in the second floor courtyard. A huge area with beautiful plants, trees and fountain. And its adjacent to an indoor space. The ceremony was very unique as her father and two step-fathers walked her down the aisle and people cheered throughout the ceremony. So full of life! The Lagniappe Brass Band led everyone through the hotel and spilled out into the street where an NOPD police escort was waiting to lead them down Bourbon Street in a traditional New Orleans Second Line Parade.

After much dancing in the street full of well-wishers we ended at The Court of Two Sisters Restaurant on Royal Street for Brunch. We slipped away for a handful of photos returning to our four hour break.

The culmination of this two day celebration was the reception at Maison Bourbon Jazz Club. We did some street photography but mostly capturing all the dancing and excitement of guests and family. The room was beautiful with a huge wrap-around balcony overlooking Bourbon Street.
