Well time is running out and the clock is speeding up. You need to choose who to hire for your wedding photographs. Here are a few more suggestions to help ease the pain of trying to chose from so many awesome photographers out there.
4. GEAR. So this is and isn’t really important to be honest. It is important in that good quality and well maintained camera gear helps the photographer greatly. Not to say lower quality gear makes a bad photographer either. The old saying ‘shoot with what ya brung’ holds true here. A good, professional can get the shot with just about anything in their possession. The only real restriction over a high quality camera is the quality of the photograph and working in lower light. I can get great wedding photos in the park on an overcast day bam with my phone. But can you make great art with those and really big? Well yes you can. But again the better the gear the more flexibility a photographer has when faced with unforeseen circumstances. And you can bet they happen often.
5. WHERE’S YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER’S HEAD? Feeding their family? Creating a vision? They can be both. The main difference might be you will receive beautiful, well composed candids and portraits from the family person while the single artist might be up for pushing the envelope and you are up for it too. The single artist might provide you more variety or less traditional images because you hired them for that purpose, something different. So find out where his or her head is at. That is when you really find out how well you blend.
6. MONEY. Doesn’t it always come down to money? There really is no formula. Typically price differences can be due to experience, volume of business, celebrity status or even building a portfolio. Be sure though that money should not be the most important qualifier. There are plenty of boring, just okay photographers charging a lot of money and other extremely awesome ones barely able to get by. So first as I said in the last post find ones that fit your style. Then check out qualified and HONEST reviewing systems. Finally select a few when they meet the above and what you are willing to spend. Give them all a call and chat a bit. You will then know who fits your needs best.
